Classic Game Room reviews BATSUGUN for Sega Saturn from developer Toaplan, a 1993 SHMUP style arcade space ship shooter which found its way onto the Japanese Sega Saturn in 1996. Regarded as a bullet hell style shooter, Batsugan shares much in common with other Toaplan shooters such as Truxton and Fireshark with its straight forward 2D gameplay and crushing difficulty. This CGR review of Batsugun has gameplay from the Japanese Sega Saturn release of the vertical scrolling Saturn shooter Batsugun with videogame game play action.
A very talented modder has made what may be the world’s first Sega Saturn “laptop” — and if not the first Saturn laptop, undoubtedly the first wooden Saturn laptop.
Ben Heck forum member and mad talented modder c_mon recently posted a few pics of this incredibly cool commission: a portable Sega Saturn “laptop” in a CNC-cut wood case. The unit boasts an in-case cooling fan, stereo sound with composite video, a 9v 4A DC power adapter, and it utilizes a modified 5″ Sony PSOne screen. Check out these sweet snapshots:
And for the record, it’s been noted by the modder that that’s a Saturn car logo, not a Sega Saturn console logo; they explained that they had trouble tracking down a Saturn logo that their CNC software would recognize, but that hardly detracts from the innate awesomeness of this masterful mod-job.

Classic Game Room reviews X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER for Sega Saturn from Capcom released in 1997. Based on the Xmen vs. Street Fighter arcade machine from 1996, this Sega Saturn version of X-Men vs Street Fighter has amazing graphics, superb gameplay and arcade quality action. This CGR review of X-Men vs. Street Fighter has gameplay from Capcom’s X-Men versus Street Fighter showing X Men vs. Street Fighter game play in HD. This is a Japanese release that was denied to fans in the West. A Playstation version of X-Men vs. Street Fighter is available for PS1 but it was condensed. Tag Team X-Men and Street Fighter gameplay is similar to Marvel vs. Capcom and Marvel vs. Capcom 3. X-Men characters are Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm and more. Street Fighter characters include Ken, Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy and more. Video Rating: 4 / 5
AH! The year was 1995, video games were going through yet another platfomr transition and Sega was unleashing the Saturn into the market. This was a system I really loved and still play often. More than many systems in my 37 system collection! Witness the awesome power of the Silver Head! Video Rating: 4 / 5
